It’s been a busy few months since the last post but here’s something that I received in my inbox recently and decided to share it with you all. I won’t go on too much about it, so here it is, a lovely message from ID Coaching athlete, Steven Willetts.
I first met Pita at my local parkrun in Cuerden Valley park when a good friend of mine introduced us and as an absolute beginner in the running community, I never had any real idea of what I wanted to achieve. After a few runs, I became quite keen and started doing parkrun every Saturday morning and began thinking more about entering some races.
Pita was always on hand to offer some guidance and advice at parkrun and I gradually saw my times decrease. I ran every day of 2016 and took part in several races throughout the year and at the start of the year, I discussed my goals with Pita which was to gain a time of sub 1 hour 40 minutes for a half marathon. Fast forward 5 months to May and I completed the Southport half marathon in 1:29:26; a time I would only have dreamed of years ago. This was purely and simply down to Pita, her coaching methods and her ability to bring out the best in runners that she works with. She gave me all the tools I needed to improve my times; and offered a sympathetic ear alongside some much needed tough love.
No excuses – you can achieve what you believe you can with Pita. I can only thank her for her tireless support and it is clear she shares in the elation of her athletes when they achieve something out of the ordinary.
I was also lucky enough to complete the Chicago marathon, where Pita provided me with a detailed training plan covering 16 weeks prior to the race. She also showed more interest in my diet than I did, she used this information to ensure I was at my peak for endurance racing; and this helped me decrease my “Pre-Pita” marathon time of 3:56:51 to 3:35:25, yet another PB, one which I was delighted with.
As long as you have the drive to achieve your goals, Pita will do everything she can to assist. I can’t recommend her highly enough to runners out there of any ability! Thanks again 🙂
